Building Blocks provides the highest level of safe, affordable, high quality service and developmentally appropriate programs to all children. We strive for excellence in the child care field by maintaining and enhancing a curriculum that encourages and supports active and involved children. Building Blocks encourages parent participation in the program. We ask parents to help plan special events that involve families for our whole center to enjoy. Parent teacher conferences are held twice a year as children are continually assessed throughout the year. Consistency is the key to any successful behavior management program. All employees have been trained on the same positive discipline strategies. We aim to provide a sense of security, a respect for order and establish acceptable patterns of behavior that are beneficial to the child's development and overall well-being.

The Tornado of 2019
On May 28, 2019 an EF-4 tornado passed through our little valley. The sirens started warning us around 5:50 pm and luckily we were in the process of closing down. All children had been signed out and all that was left were 3 teaching staff, the director, and her two children. We debated on if we should leave or stay and decided the safest place for us would be the building. At around 6:30 the tornado hit. We all hunkered down in one of our designated shelter areas. When the tornado had passed we were able to leave the shelter and see the damages. The tornado came from the southwest corner of our property and the hardest hit area was our school age building and our gymnasium. The rest of our building was okay. We had minor damages such as a couple broken windows and lots of water leaks in our roof but the overall structure was sound. It took us almost a year to get the building ready for use again. We opted to not rebuild the school age program or the gymnasium. In the end, our building is back and better than ever. The tornado provided us the opportunity to renovate and modernize our little old 1957 school into the facility you see today.
