I have been the Director at Building Blocks since March 2010. I have worked in the early childhood field since August of 1997. I have a BBA and have taken several Early Childhood Education courses. I am currently certified for a Center Program Director for over 100 infant, toddler, preschool and school age children. I plan on continuing my education by attending a Master's Program this fall. Working in the early childhood field is a very rewarding career. I enjoy watching children grow and build relationships with familes and the community. The early years are imperative to development and I believe quality early childhood education makes a difference in the lives of young children. I have received training in both diversity and educational leadership.

I have been the After School Director at Building Blocks since July 2009 and was promoted to Assistant Director in January 2012. I received my BSW in 2006 and my MSW in 2007. I have been working with children since the fall of 2002. I am currently certified for a Center Program Director for up to 100 infant, toddler, preschool, and school age children. Before coming to Building Blocks I worked in the Lawrence Public School District for 7 years. I have received training in diversity, abuse and neglect, medication administration, mediation, and family outreach to name a few. The things I enjoy most about working with children are their personalities and attitudes. They always keep you on your toes.
Staff

Building Blocks' employees meet the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Laws and Regulations for Licensing Preschools and Child Care Centers. It is our goal to have educated and qualified staff in all of our classrooms. Many of our lead teachers are either working on or have completed their degree in early childhood education or a related field such as speech and language pathology, psychology, or social welfare.

All of our employees and volunteers are subject to a background check through the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. All employees are also required to complete training in first aid, childhood illnesses, as well as abuse and neglect. In addition to these trainings, employees are required to complete a minimum of 10 early childhood in-service hours per year.
